Eiga Sai 2016: Japanese Film Festival
The Japan Foundation, Manila (JFM), in partnership with the Embassy of Japan, brings 12 Japanese films for its Eiga Sai 2016. What makes this 19th year of Eiga Sai extra special is that it marks the 20th anniversary of JFM and the 60-year friendship of Philippines and Japan. An extra bonus for film enthusiasts is that these movies will be shown in various cinemas within Metro Manila, Cebu, Davao and Baguio.

Theatre lovers have another play to look forward to this week. The Writer’s Bloc, Inc., Cultural Center of the Philippines and Tanghalang Pilipino brings to life “Changing Partners”, which is written by Vincent DeJesus, as part of the Virgin Labfest 12. The staged reading of this musical features Ricky Ibe, Patricia Ismael, Giannina Ocampo, and Sandino Martin, as directed by Rem Zamora. This is an opportunity to see the new works of Filipino artists that shouldn’t be missed.

HUPEEP: LABAN- A Fundraising Concert
Support our very own local talents as UPeepz represents the Philippines in the 2016 World Hip Hop Dance Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada! Organized in 2011, Upeepz is a professional dance crew whose home base is in UP Diliman. With various dancing backgrounds, they have been able to train students interested in different styles of dancing like hip-hop, urban, jazz and contemporary. This fundraising concert will go towards their expenses for the competition, which will not only further prove to the rest of the world of Pinoy talent but also help Upeepz continue on their mission of spreading the passion for dance.

The 1st ToFarm Film Festival Philippines
As a country with a heavy agricultural background, it is about time that films are created centered on the lives, challenges and goals of Filipino farmers. Audiences will get a better grasp of what these farmers go through in terms of putting food on ours and their tables. Designed as a competition, the winner of the festival will receive Php500,000 and a trophy. Several themes and genres were submitted as entries including a love story, comedy road movie and suspense action.
Artisan Cheese Fair 2016
To intensify your love for cheese this month, another event is offering you over 80 kinds of artisanal cheeses that will be flown in from France. This is courtesy of Chef Selection, the exclusive distributor of Beillevaire. The cheesemaker, Pascal Beillevaire, will be at the event to share his expertise and present the cheese and dairy display. The spread will include a variety of selection from hard to soft cheeses, wood-churned butters and homemade yogurts. A wine and cheese pairing is included which will be provided by Sommelier Selection.
