01 Science Museum DayCelebrate Science Museum Day

Science matters. In celebration of the first International Science Center and Science Museum Day, the Mind Museum is preparing loads of fun learning activities for its guests. You can roam the museum for three hours; try the new museum attractions and programs like the Planet Story Exhibit, Science Circus Traveling Exhibition and Play with the Universe with Mind Mover Pecier; and watch the premiere of NASA’s Global Experiment special animation video, TMM Alumni Video and movies of the Science Film Festival 2016. There’s also a #MakerspacePilipinas workshop that small and big children can enjoy. Those who are young-at-heart, or the adults, that is, can also join the #MindPub Quiz Night from 8:00-9:00 PM.

Satisfy your curiosity and head over to the University of the Philippines campus for the staging of UP Repertory Company’s Intersection: a Twinbill Production. It will feature the Mix Villalon’s “Streetlight Manifesto” and UP Repertory Writers’ Pool “Eskinita” based on the Elyrah Salanga-Torralba’s short story. The UP Rep is a pool of talented actors, performers, hosts, writers, directors, and stage managers that aims to create stage plays and performances that reflect the needs of the greater populace and bring Filipino theater closer to the masses.

13 21K ChallengePinoy Fitness 21K Challenge 2016

Put your speed to the test and see how long you can reach the 21K end point. Will it be within two hours, two hours and a half or three hours? Do you think you can run faster than the speed categories, or are the three hours too short to get to the finish line? This is the third time that Pinoy Fitness is posting the challenge of running your quickest half marathon. You can run as an individual or as part of a team of five. When you register, you will receive a race bib, singlet and finisher shirt. The finisher medal is awarded to runners who beat their time cut-off.

14 CinemaOne OriginalsCinema One Originals Festival 2016

For 12 years now, Cinema One Originals Festival has been showcasing the talents of Filipino independent filmmakers. This year’s theme is “Anong Tingin Mo?” There are seven finalists that made it to the full-length feature film category which received Php3 Million grant to produce the film. These are Lily by Keith Deligero; Every Room Is A Planet by Malay Javier; Baka Bukas Pwede Na by Samantha Lee; Si Magdalola At Mga Gago by Jules Katanyag; Malinak La’y Labi by Jose Abdel Langit; 2 Cool 2 Be 4gotten by Petersen Vargas; and Tisay by Alfonso Torre. For the documentary feature film category, three films made it to the cut.

15 TempestThe Tempest Reimagined A Filipino Adaptation of Shakespeare Classic

Shakespeare’s The Tempest opens with a violent storm which led to the characters getting stranded in an island. Drawing parallel from this scenario, PETA, and the British Council, in partnership with Japan Foundation and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA), weave the actual stories of Yolanda survivors. Some actors and crew members of PETA went to Palo, Leyte for a cultural where they formed the characters of Tempest Reimagined. The play is directed by internationally acclaimed playwright, director and RADA’s artistic director, Nona Shepphard. PETA’s very own Liza Magtoto co-writes the play, British designer Marsha Roddy takes care of set and costume design, and Japanese lights designer Tsuguo Izumi provides the lighting effects.
