03 Artist TalkAn Invitation to a free event: Artist Talk

His spontaneous creativity that challenges conventions is what made the artworks of wide-ranging artist Glenn Bautista as exceptional, who deserves a place in the Philippine Art History. But not many know of the life and the masterpieces of this reclusive artist who succumbed to cancer in 2014. To acquaint the public with his works no less than his friend, fellow artist and considered as a cerebral abstractionist, Justin “Tiny” Nuyda will conduct an artist talk on “The Uncommon Art of Glenn Bautista.” The National Museum pays tribute to this genius with a retrospective exhibition of his opus at Gallery XXI of the National Museum of Fine Arts.

04 A Little PrincessA Little Princess

Frances Hodgson Burnett’s novel “A Little Princess” is brought to life by Repertory Philippines. We are more familiar of Sara, Becky and Mrs. Minchin in the cartoon series, the TV adaptation, and the viral memes but it would be greater to get to know them better through this theater production. But did you know that the novel was recognized among the “Top 100 Chapter Books” of all time by the School Library Journal? Child-actresses Jillian Itaas and Maria Gabriela Gil Padilla top bill the play as Sara, Captain Ralph Crewe’s young daughter who was sent to boarding school. Catch them live in this stage performance of “A Little Princess”.

05 The NutcrackerThe Nutcracker

Toy soldiers, fairies, and princesses dancing to the music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky will fill the CCP stage once again in another holiday classic “The Nutcracker”. This is a pompous conclusion to Philippine Ballet Theatre’s 30th anniversary celebration. Joseph Phillips, dubbed as the “Golden Boy of Ballet”, will be back in Manila from Russia to reprise the role of the Nutcracker Prince, opposite PBT’s Lobreza Pimentel and Regine Magbitang who will play as Clara and the Sugar Plum Fairy. The Nutcracker is a must-see, as Uncle Drosselmeier says, “Time that was, time shall be, but waste it not, ere it waste thee.”

15 Curatorial IntensiveCuratorial Intensive Symposia
